The Urban Studies Foundation (USF) is very pleased to announce the three successful candidates from our 2017 International Fellowship competition.
Dr. Andre Ortega from the Population Institute, University of the Philippines, will spend eight months visiting City Institute, York University in Canada under the mentorship of Professor Roger Keil. His research will focus on ‘Postcolonial suburbanisms: a view from Manila’s fringe and beyond’.
Dr. Aiden Mosselson from University of Johannesburg and Gauten City-Region Observatory, South Africa, will spend nine months visiting LSE Cities, London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) under the mentorship of Professor Suzanne Hall. His research will focus on ‘Vernacular regeneration: Low-income housing, private security and urban transition in inner-city Johannesburg’.
Dr. Jie Shen from the School of Social Development and Public Policy, Fudan University, Shanghai, China will spend eight months visiting the Department of Geography, University College London (UCL) under the mentorship of Professor Jennifer Robinson. Her research project will focus on ‘Governing suburban new towns in China: challenges and innovations’.

Our next call for the International Fellowship Scheme will be run in 2018.
